If you sell handmade or vintage products on Etsy and also run a WooCommerce store, you already know the compliance headaches. Etsy updated its seller requirements for GPSR in early 2025. They now require manufacturer details, product identifiers, and EU responsible person data on every physical product listing.

Your WooCommerce store has the same obligation. The EU regulation does not care which platform you use. It cares whether the product page shows the required data.

What Etsy already requires

Since early 2025, Etsy sellers targeting EU buyers must provide manufacturer name and contact details, a product identifier (EAN, UPC, or similar), and an EU responsible person if the manufacturer is outside the EU. Etsy displays this data on the listing page.

If you have already filled this out for your Etsy products, you have most of the data you need. The problem is getting it into WooCommerce without re-typing everything manually for 200 or 2,000 products.

The multi-channel compliance problem

Many Etsy sellers treat their WooCommerce store as the “real” store and use Etsy as a discovery channel. Makes sense. But compliance does not follow your business logic. Both stores need the same GPSR data, and both need it now.

Your worst outcome is getting your Etsy listings compliant and then having a German customer buy from your WooCommerce store, receive a product without proper safety information, and report it to the BNetzA. It happens.

How to sync GPSR data between Etsy and WooCommerce

There is no direct Etsy-to-WooCommerce sync for GPSR fields. But the workflow is straightforward:

  1. Install the GPSR Compliance plugin on your WooCommerce store
  2. Create manufacturer records for each supplier or your own brand
  3. Use bulk edit to assign the correct manufacturer to all products at once
  4. If you have a spreadsheet from Etsy, use CSV import to map GPSR fields

We’ve seen stores with under 50 products, the whole process takes about 30 minutes. For larger catalogs, the bulk edit wizard handles 100,000+ products in batches with a progress bar and undo support.

Handmade sellers have it easier than they think

If you make the products yourself, you are the manufacturer. Your home address or business address goes on the record. You are already in the EU (or you appoint an EU responsible person). That is it.

We built the plugin so you can create one manufacturer record, set it as default in settings, and every new product gets it automatically. You fill it in once and stop thinking about it.

Don’t wait for Etsy to remind you about WooCommerce

Etsy will enforce GPSR on their platform. WooCommerce won’t remind you about anything. It is your store and your responsibility. Get both channels compliant at the same time and move on to the part of your business you actually enjoy.
